You have to love a post-apocalyptic world where everyone always has time to do their make-up. The fourth film in the Resident Evil series is better than the previous one, but that’s hardly a compliment. It’s sloppy, pretty, stupid, fun, and IN YOUR FACE! Um… that means 3D.

When I was a kid I would imagine all of my favorite action stars in the same movie. It would be so action-packed that any movie theater not built to withstand a 6.5 earthquake would crumble during the final reel. The Expendables isn’t that movie, but it’s as close as I’ll ever get. Well, until the sequel, anyway.

I’m kind of confused as to how I ended up seeing this film in theaters. I’ve never seen an Adam McKay movie (Anchorman, Talladega Nights) in theaters and I don’t care for Will Ferrell’s brand of humor (”yelling things is funny”). But for some reason, I decided to slap my money down and see it, and I’m glad I did.

Despite some good miniseries and an adequate first eight issues, the ongoing Farscape series hasn’t blown me away. It hasn’t been bad, just… adequate. And when your source material is as exemplary as the television show was, adequate just isn’t really enough. However, this issue looks to me to be a turning point.

Inception is the smartest movie of the year. Hell, it might be the smartest movie in the past ten years. It’s almost impossible to debate the intricacies of the script or the thought that went into this plot. It’s part heist flick, part con flick and part sci-fi flick and forces amazing amounts of plot into almost every line of dialogue.

Action! Adventure! Aliens! What else could you ask for from a Farscape comic? Pop culture references? They’re in there too. With issue number eight, the comic keeps the heart of the TV show pumping.

I enjoy the pacing of this series and it reminds me more of an HBO series than Farscape, but it certainly works for the subject. In short, if you’re a fan of Farscape, especially its darker side, then you should be reading this series.

I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed a movie as much as I enjoyed this one. I’m not gonna lie, it’s far from high cinema. You’re not going to find a lot of depth or meaning. What you will find is awesome, detailed characters, fun fight scenes, big explosions, some laughs, and one heck of a bad guy.
