Plutonian continues to make his way to the center of the Looney Bin Planet and we find out where Kaiden’s been this whole time. We also find out where Qubit and Modeus were heading to while doing all that big brain talking from last issue.
Plutonian continues making his way down town, collecting strays as he goes and becoming more and more like the Plutonian that went bat crap crazy and exploded Earth. He even makes the Bad Plutonian suit again out of some poor deluded alien’s flesh. He also makes a metal vest of some sort for the Hulk knockoff he picks up in this issue, and I gotta say that I never knew he was such an accomplished clothing designer/maker. So, you know, that’s a nice revelation. It’s good to be versatile.
Okay, I have to be honest here. This insane asylum planet story is losing me fast. It got even more ridiculous when Tony & Co. came across a female alien who, when cutting herself would hurt the person nearest to her (Tony). Inventively enough, she’s referred to as “a cutter”. After groaning about that, I groaned even more when Tony had that letchy look and word balloon about her. And THEN it was a “Seriously, what the crap is going on” when a DUPLICATE Tony shows up insisting that the Tony we’ve been following take “the cutter” to the planet’s center despite what Auroran says. Which was oh so hilariously, “Get over it, Tony. We need a posse, not p—y”. Yeah. Groanfest 2011.
The other part of this issue was where Kaiden’s been. Turns out, Modeus has her lock up and being guarded by her zombified husband. She’s got this collar on that prevents her from being able to use her powers fully, so all she has to do is talk to this drooling husk that is her dead husband’s body. But in talking about their past and what made her chose him over his brother, she manifests a half-assed version of Cary (only a half-assed because he’s technically neither dead nor alive). She’s so desperate to hear him say “I love you” that when the apparition starts saying a three-word phrase over and over, that’s what she assumes he’s saying. Turns out, he’s asking her to kill him. In my opinion, that would be a mercy and it would literally strengthen her to add him to her ghost stories. In no way do I think it would be easy for her to do. I do wonder if having Cary’s ghost be a part of her powers will be that extra push that will help her be one of the few that will take Tony down (if they’re still sticking to that plot from the special issue).
And briefly at the end, Qubit and Modeus show up on Planet Cuckoo’s Nest demanding to know where Tony is. I’m not sure where this is going as I don’t think these two have the same reasons for finding Tony. It should be interesting to see if they find him before he gets to the center of the planet. It should also be interesting to find out what exactly is at the center of the planet that Tony needs to get to so desperately.
