In the worlds and dimensions and workplaces of Whedon and Sorkin, family are the people you spend your time with, who have your back, who will help you through the bad times as well as the good, who will inspire you. And most of all, they’re the people in your life who seem to have the most natural dialogue and give the best speeches.

This week we rant about Joss Whedon and the newest Buffy comic before talking about the week in TV and the Video Game Awards.

The big news this week was that a new Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie is being made without the involvement of Buffy’s creator, Joss Whedon. The Internet has turned out to show support for Joss, and this week’s Fan Art Friday honors him by spotlighting his hugely popular web series, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog!

In this week’s Fan Music, I’ll be looking at Anthony Stewart Head’s only released album, Music for Elevators. Most know Head as Buffy’s long-standing Watcher/father figure Rupert Giles or currently from his role on Merlin as King Uther Pendragon.

This week we talk about Drones, Kick-Ass, Doctor Who, Joss Whedon’s new gig, a bunch of video games we’ve been playing, and more!

Since Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog was first released in July 2008, Joss Whedon’s web movie musical has been a cult hit. So, as is usually the case with geeky cult fandoms, there are some very talented folks who have been inspired by the “evil” Dr. Horrible, the cocky Captain Hammer, and sweet Penny to create awesome crafty goodness.

The latest episode of Dollhouse is, without a doubt, the most mind-blowing of the show to date. Whether Season 2 was always slated for such a spectacular ending or if some tweaking was done after it was obvious that the show wouldn’t be coming back for a third season is unclear but, regardless, the end result is phenomenal.

It just so happens that there are quite a few Browncoats in media and entertainment, and like any good fans of a cult hit, they find ways to sneak references to Firefly and Serenity into their own creations. There have been several of these references within the past month or so, so I thought it would be fun to round them up.
