New Line Cinema and Platinum Dunes is hopping on the horror revival bandwagon with a new take on the Friday the 13th movie franchise. The new film, slated for a February 13, 2009, release, already stars Jared Padalecki of Supernatural, and now the resident slasher has been cast.
Derek Mearswill be the new Jason Voorhees. He previously has appeared in The Hills Have Eyes 2 and has done stunts for a number of movies, including the Pirates of the Caribbean films and currently Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
