The Last Of The Greats is a superhero comic book, of a sort. It starts with a superhero dying and the people celebrating. Not exactly how many superhero comics start. The comic then moves onto the Last of the Greats — he isn’t given a name yet. Scientists and military men surround him as they try to persuade him to help human kind, but he doesn’t want to. He blames humanity for killing his siblings.

We then learn how the Greats came to Earth and began helping humans. However, not all of humanity trusted the Greats and plotted to destroy them. The Last never wanted to help and he scoffs that humans have even come to him asking for help. The scientists convene and agree to let the Last do whatever he wants as long as he helps them. The Last flies off, ostensibly to help humanity.

I thought that this was a really good comic. The story is different than most superhero comics: it shows what humanity would probably if aliens came to help us. The “hero” is interesting and engaging — he has his own agenda and never bothered to help humanity like his siblings. The art is very good as well. The Greats have similar outfits, but each has their own twist. There are many great close ups of the Last that show how powerful he is compared to the humans around him. The ending is amazing, unexpected, and definitely leaves you wanting more. If you like superhero comics, but with a twist, then this a comic series that you should check out.

About the Author
From a young age, Nikki would read any book placed in front of her and has always had an interest in writing. She saw Sailor Moon, Red Dwarf, and Highlander (to name a few shows) on TV and they got her more interested in anime and sci-fi, which led to fantasy, her favorite genre. Right now Nikki is devouring anything Middle Earth related and has very much fallen in love with Tolkien's world. Nikki plays a lot of video games ranging from Final Fantasy to Mass Effect to Assassin's Creed III. Nikki has also written her first book! You can find it here if you're interested. She is currently planning another novel.
