One of the most highly anticipated launch titles for the upcoming Xbox One and PlayStation 4 is Watch Dogs, a new game (and probably the start of a new franchise) from Ubisoft. With versions of the game slated to release across current generation and next generation platforms in about a month, today Ubisoft announced that they are delaying Watch Dogs until spring 2014. It sounds like Ubisoft needed some additional time to put the finishing touches on the game, and the decision to remove Watch Dogs from the new consoles’ launch window certainly wasn’t an easy one. In the end, an unintended benefit for Ubisoft may be that this delay will prevent the company from competing with itself when the new consoles launch. They already have Assassins Creed 4 on the roster for launch day, and it’s possible that the gaming audience could have split their purchases between the two games coming out on the same day. The full announcement from Ubisoft is on their official website.
