Original Air Date:

Now that everyone is back where they belong, it’s time to start pushing forward with some new story, right? Well, not so much. We still have to tie up that pesky loose end about what happened to Chuck and Sarah. Even Casey wants to know, and that’s something that is usually way outside his area of interest.

Turns out Sarah was serious and Chuck was the one to say no. As I said earlier, I’m not sure I buy this part of the story as it seems out of character for both Sarah and Chuck, although I suppose I can understand Sarah’s desire for a normal life. I just tend to think she has more of a sense of duty than this would show.

Carina’s return and Morgan’s delusion that she’s there for him are an excellent side story in this episode and I was almost proud of the way that Morgan told her no at the party. Granted, he screwed the pooch big time and ended up giving the golden suitcase back to the bad guys, but it was nice to see him stand up for himself. I suppose sleeping with Carina and being told that you’re not the worst at it is some pretty good instant karma, too.

Chuck and Sarah’s problems were the true focus, though, and the two of them don’t seem to be on the same page at all. Sarah tells him to keep his feelings to himself and Chuck seems incapable of doing that, but I think anyone that has seen the show would know that was the case. Why is it that Sarah suddenly seems to be reticent about letting Chuck get his feelings out? Will the flash drive with Chuck’s full speech on it allow her to cut him some slack?

You can’t help but feel bad for Chuck, but then isn’t that part of what this show is really about? He’s an everyday guy out of his element no matter how hard he tries to fit in and he has trouble with the fact that the only place he gets any respect is as the top of the “mediocre” food chain at the Buy More. It seems that Sarah is expecting something different from him so far this season despite the fact that she has been the one that understood him for the last two years.

This episode wasn’t as good as the first, but it was still very good. Chuck’s dancing through the beams wasn’t as good as his guitar playing, but blowing up the fountain was more impressive than the zip line, if only because he did it on his own without the Intersect’s help. I’m excited about this season and think that once everything becomes settled in again, the writers have given themselves some fun new angles to play with and some new mysteries to solve.

Rating: 4 / 5 Stars

About the Author
Dax Collins was a geek long before it was actually a good thing to be. Growing up in and around Atlanta, GA, he honed his skills in gaming, writing, and TV viewing, never knowing that one day the three could collide and allow him to rule the universe. Video games have always been his first love, and he even went to school and got a Master's degree in Interactive Design and Video Game Development. He uses the degree every day, nonstop. Wait...

An undergrad degree (BALS - hehe) at Oglethorpe University in Communications followed by the aforementioned Masters at the Savannah College of Art and Design led Dax to work in the exciting field of orthodontics as a day job while working on a big writing project at night (it could be a game, it could be a novel) and playing a tremendous amount of World of Warcraft (For the Horde!). He wants to write the games you play and play the games you write. Dax lives in East Point, Georgia with his wife Sarah, daughter Lily, and two dogs Gatsby and Zoe.
