Yesterday we ran a special edition of Kelly Melcher’s Geeks Give Back series to raise awareness about the catastrophic earthquake that decimated Haiti on January 12th and to provide our concerned readers with several legitimate ways to contribute to those individuals and families affected by this disaster.
Today, independent publishing company Quirk Books announced that 20% of the proceeds from each book sold on their Web site, Irreference.com, as well as sister sites ChronicleBooks.com and KnockKnockStuff.com, will be donated to the American Red Cross to aid the Haiti relief efforts.
The publisher says:
“Over the years, Quirk Books, Chronicle Books, and Knock Knock have brought you books about how to be a superhero, how to approach worst-case scenarios, and giving pep talks and pick-me ups. Together, we’re bringing you a unique opportunity to help those affected by the earthquake.”
If you’ve been holding off on buying that copy of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies that you want, now is certainly a good time to visit Irreference.com and purchase it. Everyone appreciates your support.
