The nominees for the 62nd Emmys were released recently, and Glee was definitely a favorite. Overall, the show received nineteen nominations!
Glee was nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series, and is up against Curb Your Enthusiasm, Modern Family, Nurse Jackie, The Office, and 30 Rock.
Glee also was nominated for Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series, and is up against Modern Family, Nurse Jackie, 30 Rock, and United States of Tara.
Matthew Morrison, who plays Will Schuester, was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and is up against Jim Parsons (Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory), Larry David (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Tony Shalhoub (Adrian Monk on Monk) Steve Carell (Michael Scott on The Office), and Alec Baldwin (Jack Donaghy on 30 Rock).
Lea Michele, who plays Rachel Berry, was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and is up against Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Christine Campbell on The New Adventures Of Old Christine), Edie Falco (Jackie Peyton on Nurse Jackie), Amy Poehler (Leslie Knope on Parks And Recreation), Tina Fey (Liz Lemon on 30 Rock), and Toni Collette (Tara Gregson on United States Of Tara).
Cris Colfer, who plays Kurt Hummel, was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series and is up against Neil Patrick Harris (Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother), Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Mitchell on Modern Family), Eric Stonestreet (Cameron Tucker on Modern Family), Ty Burrell (Phil Dunphy on Modern Family), and Jon Cryer (Alan Harper on Two and a Half Men).
Jane Lynch, who plays Sue Sylvester, was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and is up against Julie Bowen (Claire Dunphy on Modern Family), Sodia Vergara (Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on Modern Family), Kristen Wiig (various characters on Saturday Night Live), Jane Krakowski (Jenna Maroney on 30 Rock), and Holland Taylor (Evelyn Harper on Two and a Half Men).
Both Mike O’Malley (Burt Hummel) and Neil Patrick Harris (Bryan Ryan) were nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series and are up against not only one another but also Fred Willard (Frank Dunphy on Modern Family), Eli Wallach (Bernard Zimberg on Nurse Jackie), Jon Hamm (Dr. Drew Baird on 30 Rock), and Will Arnett (Devin Banks on 30 Rock).
Kristin Chenoweth, who plays April Rhodes, was nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series and is up against Christine Baranski (Beverly Hofstadter on The Big Bang Theory), Kathryn Joosten (Karen McCluskey on Desperate Housewives), Tina Fey (Host on Saturday Night Live), Betty White (Host on Saturday Night Live), Elaine Stritch (Colleen Donaghy on 30 Rock), and Jane Lynch (Dr. Linda Freeman on Two and a Half Men).
Other nominations included Outstanding Art Direction for a Single Camera Series and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy series, both for the pilot episode.
“The Power of Madonna” episode was nominated for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama series (one hour). This episode was also nominated for Outstanding Costumes for a Series, Outstanding Hairstyling for a Single Camera Series, and Outstanding Makeup for a Single Camera Series (non-prosthetic).
“Hairography” was also nominated for Outstanding Hairstyling for a Single Camera Series.
“Theatricality” was also nominated for Outstanding Makeup for a Single Camera Series (non-prosthetic).
The episode titled “Wheels” was nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series.
Glee Hyperpromo and Superfan at Fox.com was nominated for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media – Fiction.
Winners will be announced August 29th, 2010 at the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Fallon, and I can’t wait to see how many Emmys Glee wins!
