We’re doing something a little different for this week’s Fan Art Friday. Instead of presenting a collected gallery of fan art from a bunch of different artists, today we’re tipping our collective hats to Jarreau Wimberly’s Thor Thursday project. One year ago, on May 5, 2010, Wimberly (or Reau, as he’s known on DeviantArt and elsewhere) began creating one piece of fan art each week featuring the mighty Thor. His goal was to present a new piece every week for a year, concluding with the release of Kenneth Branagh’s Thor movie. The movie is in theaters this weekend, and Reau made good on his promise by delivering a heck of an awesome tribute to the god of thunder.
He’s no stranger to mega projects like this one, having completed Wolverine Wednesday in 2008. As with his year long Wolverine tribute, Reau ended Thor Thursday in grand style by expanding the project to include fan art from a number of other great artists on the final week. The result is a testament to persistence, talent, and passion in the form of a fantastic gallery of fan art on the eve of Thor’s big screen debut.
