Winter is coming… or rather is has officially started by the this installment comes out. I came to Game of Thrones a little over two years ago. I’ve read the books and watch the series with an avid interest. Jon Snow has almost as many memes as Ned Stark or Tyrion Lannister. He may know nothing but he is rather crushworthy.

Who is He?

Jon Snow is one of the main POV characters in George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series. He is the supposed bastard son of Ned Stark and an unknown woman, and half-brother to the Stark brood. He becomes a man of the Night’s Watch and later its commander. His direwolf is named Ghost. He is played by Kit Harington on the television series.

Fun Facts:

  1. A popular fan theory is that Jon Snow is the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen.
  2. Jon Snow gave Arya her sword, Needle.
  3. Jon Snow is the 998th commander of the Night’s Watch.
  4. One of Jon’s many nicknames is Lord Crow.
  5. Kit Harington had to wear a wig during the GoT pilot because his hair was too short.

Why So Crushworthy?

My friend Emily declares that Jon Snow is too important for Mr. Martin to kill. I really hope she is right. He is one of my favorites in the series. He really is a good guy. He was born under the shadow of being Ned Stark’s bastard. Instead of becoming a family disappointment he decided to make something of himself by joining the Night’s Watch. Jon Snow has the ability to make the best out of any situation. He may not have Tyrion’s wit or Loras Tyrell’s good looks but he has the nice guy thing going for him. (Also, Kit Harington is absolutely adorable!) He was willing to face death to help his brother during the war. His way of helping his family was better than Ramsay Bolton’s. Jon Snow starts off a boy but becomes a man as the series goes on.

Jon Snow wants to do the right thing in a kingdom where it’s required of you to backstab someone at least once in your life. Jon Snow would probably be that nice jock in your literature class. He doesn’t join in when the other jocks are giving wedgies. He makes them stop picking on the nerds. He would actually notice you exist. Jon Snow is one of my favorite POV characters. I enjoy his adventures and am with him the whole way. I kind of wanted things to work out with him and Ygritte. He needed something that wasn’t ice and gloom in his life. He did have Sam but bromance only goes so far. I really like Jon Snow and Kit Harington’s portrayal of him.
