Fandomestic: 8 Star Wars Snacks

I’m not sure I’d like the food they actually eat in the Star Wars universe (blue milk? Rootleaf stew?) but these eight Earth foods inspired by the characters and settings in the films are pretty awesome.

1. Jar Jar Binks Salad

A jicama salad became sweet revenge for the Star Wars fans at CooksDen. If you hate Jar Jar as much as most SW geeks do, you’ll enjoy the chance to “slowly dismember JJ and enjoy munching his eyes, ears and ridiculous smile,” as CooksDen puts it. Kinda morbid, but probably satisfying.

2. Yoda & Vader Cupcakes

Flickr user katipeck made these Yoda and Darth Vader cupcakes. How many calories do midichlorians add?

3. Darth Vader Pizza

Flickr user ramahughes‘s brother made this Vader pizza (using olives and mushrooms) for their SW movie marathon party (which also included a Yoda pizza and Ewok cupcakes).

4. Death Star Cantaloupe

You may recall the handiwork of the Evil Mad Scientist blog from our pumpkin feature at Halloween. Apparently melons are part of their repertoire as well, as evidenced by this simple (yet awesome) carved-cantaloupe Death Star.

5. Death Star Cookie

From the pages of Darth Vader’s Activity Book (1977) comes this recipe for a Death Star cookie. Though I personally imagine Darth Vader’s activities to involve things far less sweet than shortbread, this manifestation of the recipe, by Todd Franklin at Neato Coolville, looks pretty delish.

6. SpaghettiOs Sarlacc Pit

Adam Kinney and his kids were inspired to create this SpaghettiOs-and-green-pepper Sarlacc pit after playing the Lego Star Wars game. I can’t say the combination is that enticing to me, but then, neither is a Sarlacc.

7. Jawa & Stormtrooper Bento Boxes

Bento boxes are basically Japanese lunch boxes, packed with a single-serving balanced meal. Unlike most American lunch boxes, though, bento boxes are divided into sections, and are frequently packed in such a way to create art with the food inside them. There are some pretty incredible bento box artists out there, and vingtdeux at LiveJournal is clearly one of them.

8. Gingerbread TIE Fighter

Instead of the typical gingerbread house, firqoret at Flickr (and friends) made a TIE Fighter Advanced. The Flickr set records the whole process.
