Eaglemoss’ Classic Marvel Figurines series continues with the release of the next of the Inhumans, Crystal. Here’s a review of the recently released figure with photos.
When I review the Classic Marvel Figurines, I always find myself in a quandry. These are small-scale, low priced collectibles that are meant to be gathered en masse and admired from a distance of at least a couple of feet. When I do my reviews and photograph the figurines with my SLR camera, though, I inevitably look at the characters up close and personal in a way that spotlights every single flaw. I’m going to try to dial back my analysis on these to a more reasonable level from this point forward, so please keep that in mind when you see blemishes and paint scuffs in the photos. Those same problems probably aren’t even noticable when you’re looking at the figurines in a normal display situation.
Such is the case with this one, Crystal. Viewed on display, it’s a very good and recognizable representation of the character. She’s in scale with the rest of the series, standing around 3 1/4″ tall. She’s mounted on a square black base with the Marvel logo, just like the one all the other standard size characters in this series have. Crystal’s pose is a very neutral one, and she’s identifiable by her yellow Inhumans outfit and her orange hair. The sculpt and paints look good on display and make a good addition to the collection.
Up close, the nitpicks here are with the paint job, as usual. Crystal’s belt and headband are painted somewhat sloppily and unevenly, but it’s not bad enough to be a dealbreaker. Sure, it would be nice to have all of these miniatures expertly painted down to exact specifications, but then they wouldn’t ring up in the $10-12 range. Even with its minor flaws, the Crystal figurine is a good piece and comes with a neat collectible magazine about the character and her history.
