Summer was at PAX last weekend and came home with lots of cool gaming news and hopefully no swine flu. Among the details she managed to wrangle from developers was some brand new info about The Secret World, a new MMO coming from Funcom that has been shrouded in mystery since its announcement a couple of years ago.
It’s an intriguing sort of game that’s set in the modern “real” world, overlaid with conspiracies and dark supernatural forces. Funcom’s presentation at PAX showed off the three factions present in the game (the Templars, the Dragon, and the Illuminati), as well as detailed the Cabal (ie: guild) system and how ranking will work among them. They also provided us with some first-ever screenshots and character concept art that shows what the actual game will look like and the differences between the factions. This is definitely an MMO we’ll be keeping an eye on.
