REVIEW: Ghost Hunters 5.09 – “Inhuman Entity”
Original Air Date: August 19, 2009
Rating: TV: PG (Parental guidance suggested)
The original Ghost Hunters is back in what I guess is the rest of the season they started earlier this year (how weird was it seeing snow on that first case?). I don’t know what it is about Jason, Grant, and their crew, but for some reason when they say they’re going to investigate something, I believe they’re going to actually investigate. Or I could like watching GH better because I think Tango is cute.
Whatever the case may be, they’re back, and they’ve got two cases in this episode.
The first case is the Ladouceur House in Blackstone, MA. The family states that there’s always been some kind of paranormal activity at the house, but it’s started to get more physical and has them a little worried. The son was attacked by a black figure in the basement, and the couch was moved while the mom was sitting on it. The guys notice the family is in the middle of renovations on the house, and that usually stirs up activity. Basically, the homeowners are looking for answers about what’s going on in their house, and how they can deal with the increasing activity.
To start things off, Kris and Amy do some EVP work in the basement. They both hear a low sound and decided to play back the audio recorder to see if it picked anything up. When they play it back, they both hear a voice say, “please help me.”
Meanwhile, Steve and Tango are doing EVP in the upstairs bedroom. They hear some small knocking noises, but nothing really big.
Jason and Grant head down to the basement and start to look for possible sources for the noises the family could be hearing (the forced air ducts make sounds like something falling/hitting the washer and dryer). After that, they decide to break out the K2 meter, and it almost immediately starts to react to their line of questioning. They suss out that they might be dealing with an inhuman entity (you know, a demon!). Grant states that demons are difficult to deal with, but that they don’t come across them often *unlikeotherparanormalshow*.
They head up to the crawl space behind the bed in the master bedroom where they hear a growling noise. They both get in there, and then they start to try and provoke the demon. I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again: WHY would you do that? Seriously? Jason gets scratched on the back of his calf, but nothing serious enough happens for them to keep thinking they’re dealing with a demon. It’s more just a regular ghost being a tool.
In the end, they catch three EVPs and that’s it. They give the homeowners peace of mind, and in the end I think that’s all most people want. Someone to take them seriously and attempt to help them with their situation. They also tell her if they ever need more help, all they have to do is call them up.
Case two is the Brentsville Historic Centre in Prince William County, VA. The two buildings are what used to be a courthouse and a jail. The site manager is a skeptic and is interested in finding out if stuff is really going on at the site since just about everyone around there’s had some kind of experience there (from full-bodied apparitions to sounds) except him.
Jason and Grant get a thermal hit right away in the jail. What looks like a human outline seemed burned into the FLIR image, then the camera turned off. Amy and Kris investigate the courthouse a bit. Dude, Kris likes to lay the snark down in her EVP sessions! It doesn’t get them anything in this case.
Steve and Tango are in the jail where one guy shot the guy who kidnapped his sister, and Steve starts to get a lot of ringing in his ears. It only rang while he was in that particular cell; if he left, it would stop, he’d come back in and it would start up again. Before they leave the room, Steve has his bug freak out moment. Even though that happens in, like, every episode, I will never get tired of watching a grown man scream and run away from bugs. Kills me every time.
During the analysis, Steve thinks the thermal image might just be Jason’s reflection, but it doesn’t match up to Jason’s outline. So they can’t say for sure what it is, and they don’t have much in the way of evidence for a haunting.
