This week’s Dexter episode is brought to you by the “I told you so” dance. Read on to find out why.
Dexter seems to have covered the smashing of the neighbors’ security lights from the previous episode by saying he was stressed out. Luckily Rita bought it, and is taking the kids with her on a trip, leaving Dexter with three days to himself.
With time away from the family, Dexter uses his time to research his next victim, Zoey Kruger. She’s a cop who apparently murdered her husband and daughter. The blood analyst who handled the case believes her guilty and that she framed someone for the murder.
Deb and Lundy are trying to find where the Trinity Killer will strike again by finding the matching murder from 30 years ago. Unfortunately, Quinn’s reporter girlfriend wrote an article (with a huge photo) about Lundy’s investigation, which is making Lundy not-so-welcome at the station. So Deb puts in her off time to work with Lundy rather than spending time with Anton.
Meanwhile, Trinity is investigating his next murder location at the public library when he sees a newspaper with the article about Lundy in it. If Quinn only knew what kind of trouble he was getting everyone into with his dating habits. Thankfully, he dumps the reporter later in the episode.
While Lundy is checking out the location that he and Deb narrowed down in their search, Trinity is there and spots him. “I’m found,” he mutters to himself. So he decides to (physically) run into Lundy before escaping on a public bus. Lundy pegs him right away as suspicious and notes the encounter on his recorder that he’s been carrying with him during his investigation.
Dexter’s mark finds out he’s looking into her case and she decides to start stalking and threatening him. So Dex decides to call her bluff and pushes her into breaking into his house with the intent to kill him. He, of course, turns the tables and she ends up with a needle in the neck. And the rest goes according to plan.
Deb of course goes down her usual path of stupidity and heads over to Lundy’s place to sleep with him. Afterward in the parking lot, she claims to feel bad about cheating on Anton, and I’m sure she does. But I guess she will learn her lesson, because right as she’s leaving she gets shot through the back. Lundy sees the killer, but is shot twice and falls to the ground, apparently dead.
And now this is the part where I do my “I told you so/I am so smart” dance. I direct you back to my review of episode 2 where I totally called not only Lundy getting killed, but also Deb sleeping with him beforehand. Now, we have not yet confirmed that Lundy is actually dead, but for now I will continue my dancing.
Deb’s wound didn’t look fatal, so I’m sure she’ll have lots of time to feel guilty. And she should, because she’s not a good person. She means well, but honestly, I think Dexter is a morally better person than she is. What does that say about Deb? Or me?
