If I could sum up The Walking Dead #112 it would be simple. Negan really likes to use the F word. And he’s a total jerk.
Note: This recap may contain spoilers!
After gutting Spencer at the end of issue #111, Negan sets up shop in his house, playing pool for hours until Rick arrives back home with his group. Immediately there is a confrontation between Negan and Rick. Yelling back and forth, Negan touts that he is really a good guy – after all, he let Carl go after the boy had killed many of the Saviors. Rick backs off, showing Negan the supplies they’ve brought. Negan insists on taking it all, Rick reminds him he only gets half, Negan says to keep it all and Rick then insists he must take half.
As they load the truck and get ready to head out, Rick immediately finds Andrea and tells her to head to the tower with her rifle. He is ready to take Negan out right away.
Does this go as planned? Of course not. There is a brief moment where the momentum builds and for some reason, I thought Rick was actually going to pull this off. Sadly, Negan has had backup for some time. He mentions this to Rick, that every time he was late or early, it was just in order to arrange all of his backup team in the same location. The last panel is Negan telling Rick he’s fully screwed… except with his favorite word… again.
The Walking Dead #112 ignited my interest in the series again. The last few issues have been interesting, but there hasn’t been a full issue that was from start to finish good, panel to panel. #112 has drama, violence, hope and dismay. It is exactly how the series should keep going for the next few issues. Perhaps what we have seen building in the last few issues, even with their lulls, will come into play. It would be really amazing to have #113 open with an appearance of Ezekiel and his army showing up and outnumbering Negan. We will just have to wait until next month.
