Super Dinosaur issue 22 starts with the united Dino-Men following SD and Derek through the portal back to their base. One Dino-Man gets stuck, but is pushed back through by SD. Derek and his dad hurry to get the isotope to Derek’s mom. They have a touching moment before SD interrupts saying the Dino-Men could come back.
Note: This recap may contain spoilers!
It seems the Dino-Men now know where the group is and will come and attack. The group can’t get help from their usual sources, so it’s up to them to fend off the Dino-Men. Doctor Dynamo told the Kingstons, the family of engineers that help around the dome, that they should leave. However, the family chooses to stay and fight.
Just then, the Dino-Men break in. The fight is on, as the group splits up and all fight their way through the mass of Dino-Men. They seem to be losing, as SD’s armor has already taken a beating and Tyrannosaurus-X is closing in on Doctor Dynamo. Tricerachops follows Erin and Erica Kingston to the armory and attempts to scare them. It fails as the girls blast her through the wall, which also distracts Tyrannosaurus-X.
Meanwhile, Sarah Kingston is upgrading SD’s armor into a gold suit with three arms, which he can control with his two normal arms. SD fights Mega-Raptor as the Dynamo Dome starts to collapse. Doctor Dynamo runs to find his wife Julianna awake. He tries to explain quickly, but there isn’t a lot of time.
Derek, Sarah, and Bruce Kingston also have armor, which helps greatly in the fight against the Dino-Men. Doctor Dynamo and Julianna have been able to stabilize the building, but the Dino-Men are unrelenting. Julianna decides to release a chemical agent that will only affect dinosaurs, including SD. Julianna doesn’t seem too worried about that and only focuses on saving her family.
This issue was very good. It was packed full of action and humor. The conflict with the Dino-Men has really hit its peak and I can’t wait to see where it goes from here, if Julianna’s chemical works. Speaking of, Julianna waking up was a bit of a surprise and I hope she is able to fit into the group dynamic that the team have built up. I do expect a lot of conflict from inside now that she is awake, however. It will be interesting to see what the next issue has to offer.
