Sony Is Making a Captain Planet Movie

Proving that absolutely no ’90s kids’ property is safe from a 2010s adaptation, Sony is in the early stages of putting together a Captain Planet and the Planeteers movie. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Mark Gordon, Don Murphy, and Susan Montford will be producing the film. If the script follows the cartoon series, it will be about a group of teens who gain superpowers and then work with a blue skinned, green haired superhero to protect Earth and its environment.

Last year Kendra did her own dream casting for a Captain Planet movie right here on Fandomania. We’re going to keep an eye on the actual movie’s development to see how close she was.

There are no details yet, as the deal still is in the works, but one can hope the movie will be at least as good as Funny or Die’s attempt, starring Don Cheadle (NSFW language):
