Invincible is like candy for comic book fans, except that it doesn’t give you cavities, and it’s more like a steak dinner because it’s very satisfying. Then again, shortly after finishing it, you are craving more, so maybe it is like candy after all. Especially Mike and Ikes, where you finish a whole box and you’re like “Man, that was good,” and then two seconds later you’re like “I should have bought another box. I need some more of that stuff inside my tummy.”

Note: This recap may contain spoilers!

Anyway, this issue starts with some aliens that talk like Yoda admitting they have oppressed their people, then getting their faces bashed in by Battle Beast. This is a great way to start a comic book issue because (1) faces getting bashed in is cool (2) I could totally do that if I were in a similar situation and (3) one of the hot alien babes offers herself as thanks to Battle Beast which is kind of misogynistic but still kind of funny.

Then we get down to business. Over at the moon base Invincible and his really pregnant girlfriend are visiting. Apparently he told his dad she’s pregnant, but not his mother, and he wasn’t supposed to tell any of them. So, basically, everyone gets pissed at him. I’ve heard that’s what happens when you become a father. Everyone blames you for everything, and all you can do is take it on, because you’re the dad and you’re always there for everyone. That’s what I’ve heard, so welcome to the club I guess.

Also, Doc Seismic returns to his Magnamites, and they start doing horrible things to him, but tell him he’ll thank them for it later, which makes me think we are in for a new and improved super villain.

But the point of this issue is how Invincible’s dinner with his pregnancy-hormone-filled girlfriend and his parents goes totally awkward because everyone’s pissed at him. Then, he challenges his father to an arm wrestling contest to see who’s stronger, which doesn’t help. It seems to me Invincible lets his dad win, since there is another Vultrimite watching from outside the moon base, and you never know when they might go back to their old ways and destroy any leader who doesn’t show he’s the strongest of them all at all times.

For the closing, we head back to Battle Beast, who is informed they have found a way to track down the former leader of the Vultrimites, and it’s Battle Beast’s turn to hunt him down and kill him.
