In this episode of the Fandomania: Geek Music podcast, I talk about my top ten geek music releases of the year as well as reflect on some non-geeky releases that I love.
I debated whether or not to do one of these lists this year. The past few years have seen the list expand and expand in order to accommodate more releases, which seems to me to kinda defeat the purpose. But then I started to see Best of 2016 lists from various places, and I got sucked back into the idea. I figured if Bob Boilen and Robin Hilton from NPR’s All Songs Considered can narrow their lists down to ten (well, Boilen did have some “honorable mentions,” too), then surely I can do the same, especially since I have a smaller list to begin with. And I also remembered something that Boilen said last year in regards to his top ten: “There is no ‘best’ in music, just ones we love. There is no right or wrong, just ones that fuel our soul.”
