For part two this month, we have one more EP, a couple of parodies, and an erotic tale!
Navi – “The Demogorgon (An Erotic Tale)” (NSFW, obviously)
Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm… OK, this isn’t actually musical, but since it’s from Navi I wanted to include it anyway. And, yes, it really is an erotic tale about the Demogorgon from Stranger Things. It’s also absolutely hysterical!
Various Artists – DEF CON 24 – The Official Soundtrack
Created for DEF CON 2016, this EP raises money for the EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation), a worthy cause if you ask me. It includes several artists familiar to readers of this column: Mikal kHill, Keyza Soulsay, Sulfur, and Tribe One. There’s even an Information Society remix and a Richard Cheese song in addition to a lot of other great music.
Von Hertzog – “Gold (feat. SynthPrisma)”
Bringing back that ’80s synthpop that I love, Von Hertzog gives us the lead single from his upcoming album, All That Was Is Now, with amazing vocals by SynthPrisma. Looking forward to the album!
Bolonium – “I’m Too Sexy” (live cover of Right Said Fred)
I love the original version of this song, probably way more than I should. I even know all the lyrics to the Spanish version and have been known to sing them very loudly. So, needless to say, I also love Bolonium’s excellent version as well.
Sherlock Parody by The Hillywood Show®
With actual film locations from Sherlock, and a surprise guest near the end, this parody is some next level stuff. Another fantastic video from The Hillywood Show®. It is, indeed, bloody awesome!
Sammus – “Time Crisis” (Explicit)
Sammus’s latest video from her latest EP, Infusion, is all about cultural stereotypes of aging and sexuality, especially in women. It’s an already powerful song enhanced nicely with the visuals. Amazing as always!
The Library Bards – “Finn and Poe” (parody of “Exes and Oh’s” by Elle King)
The Library Bards continue their great tradition of parodies with this one about Finn and Poe from The Force Awakens. I ‘ship it.
Koo Koo Kanga Roo – “B-E-L-I-E-V-E”
I can never quite tell if Koo Koo Kanga Roo are playing it completely straight or if their tongues are planted in their cheeks, but this song makes me lean toward the latter. And, quite honestly, I really don’t care; their music is just so fun and catchy! Turn it up and dance!
Kraken Not Stirred – “Welcome to the Shatterdome”
I’m just gonna quote the video description for this: “Pacific Rim. The sad tale of human filth refusing to die when ordered to by their sub-aquatic, other-dimensional betters. Here’s an ode to that heartbreaking film using clips from it.” Love it!
Meri Amber – “Hakuna Matata” (The Lion King Acoustic Cover)
It seems fitting to finish up with Kraken Not Stirred and Meri Amber since they recently performed a song together. Of course, there are no cyberwombats in this one, but there is a monkey hat (no warthog one, sadly, but hopefully someone will get on that…), so that’s kinda close… Well, yeah, maybe not…
Smashy Claw – “Merica”
Leave it to Smashy Claw to come up with a pun based on the shortening of America by certain people. This is part of their weekly Claw Machine project where they create a song and video every week. You can (and should!) support the project over at their Patreon (in case you’ve forgotten about it!).
