Geek Music: 10 More Songs about Robots

Two weeks ago, I presented a list of songs about non-specific robots. This week, I’ve compiled a list of songs about various robots, androids, and cyborgs from various popular culture sources. Enjoy! (Some songs may be NSFW)

1.”My Electric Man” and 2. “Seven of Mine” by Warp 11

Two Star Trek songs from the wonderful Warp 11. The first is about Data, the “fully functional” android from TNG (too bad I couldn’t find a video for it). The second is about the best part of Voyager: Seven of Nine. Both of them rock!

3. “Take It From Me” by Kirby Krackle

I may not have actually ever played Mega Man, but Wikipedia informs me that he’s referred to as either a robot or a cyborg, so it must be true! Besides, it gives me yet another excuse to get a Kirby Krackle song on one of my lists.

4. “R2D2’s Love Song” by Yoda Pop

It’s a love song for R2-D2, of course. Perhaps a little odd to think of R2 in quite the way that he (or she, as the song says) is portrayed, but amusing.

5. “IG-88’s ’57 Chevy” by mc chris

Continuing the Star Wars theme (and mc chris’s penchant for songs about the vehicles of bounty hunters), we have my favorite bounty hunter: IG-88. I remember owning the action figure back when I was a kid. I think it’s one of the first times I realized that even the background characters in the Star Wars movies have actual names.

6. “K9’s Lament” by Chameleon Circuit

Switching now to Doctor Who, we get to hear from the Doctor’s (now Sarah Jane’s) trusty robot dog, K9. “And I wonder what life would be like if / I could choose not to say, ‘Affirmative!’.” Poor K9!

7. “Cyber Octicks” by Johnny Nero Action Hero

And here’s an appropriately 8-bit track about the villainous Cybermen. “We are Cybermen!”

8. “Cylon #6” and 9. “Rachel Rosen” by John Anealio

Two more from John Anealio, who was also featured on the previous list. The titles pretty much tell you what you need to know: one’s about the 6th Cylon from BSG, while the other’s about Rachel Rosen from Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (yes, that’s right — in Blade Runner it’s spelled “Rachael,” and her last name isn’t mentioned. Thanks again, Wikipedia!)

10. “Marvin I Love You” by Stephen Moore

One of many songs by Stephen Moore (the voice of Marvin the Paranoid Android in the TV movie and radio shows) about everyone’s favorite miserable android from H2G2.

battlestar galactica, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, doctor who, hitchhiker's guide, Lists, music-, Robot Month, robots, star trek, star wars
