You knew it was going to be centered around this decade because when in doubt, head towards what you know. Growing up in the ’90s, I’m very well versed in all the hits and misses of the toy world during those glorious ten years. We’re not going to talk about the bad but only the good as we countdown the top ten toys of the ’90s.
10. Race Cars
Low on the list because these weren’t new to the decade. They were only enhanced during this time.
9. Barbie
Like Hot Wheels and whatnot, Barbie wasn’t introduced in 1990, but she had some of her best looks then. Who remembers hip hop Barbie?
8. Finger Skateboards
One of the many nuisances of classrooms everywhere. I am still not over how kids were into the itty bitty parts and tiny tools.
7. Polly Pocket
Speaking of little, this girl’s tiny world had everything.
6. Talkboy
Kevin McCallister really sparked a craze with this one. I personally had a Talkgirl but same difference.
5. Tickle Me Elmo
This one still gives some people nightmares. Our local outlet had a KB Toys at the time and I still remember the hordes of people waiting to get this thing. To this day I’m still confused as to why it was so popular.
4. Giga Pets
If parents weren’t sure if their kid was ready for a pet, somehow this was the perfect training mechanism. At least that’s what we thought, right?
3. Beanie Babies
Do not remove that tag! Are any of these actually worth anything today? Probably not, but you have to admit they were adorable.
2. Mighty Morphin Power Ranger Figurines
The heads were way too small for the bodies but we didn’t care. That flip action was, to speak in ’90s terms, da’ bomb!
1. Pogs
Approximately four kids in an entire school would actually play with these. The others just collected and traded these little pieces of cardboard that had really cool designs like skeletons, Power Rangers, and cats.
