Contestant #1: K.I.T.T (Knight Rider)
Character analysis: KITT, aka Knight-Industries-Two-Thousand, is an artificial intelligence electronic computer installed in a 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. Piloted by Michael Knight, KITT’s AI was originally in a mainframe computer used by the US government in Washington D.C. He was later “recruited” into the Foundation’s crime-fighting crusade, and the AI was placed into its now infamous vehicle form.
Strength attributes:“Tri-heclical Plasteel 1000 MS” (aka, molecular bonded shell armor), Turbo boost, perception of multiple wavelengths (ie: x-rays and infrared), grappling hook / winch, oil jets and smoke screen, laser powerpack, deflatable tires, multiple computer systems. Sarcasm.
Potential weaknesses: Turbo boost can be used only 1 time per episode, not built for extreme physical combat, requires time to repair if badly damaged.
Contestant #2: Christine (Christine)
Character analysis: Born in Detroit in 1958, Christine was a bad to the bone 1958 Plymouth Fury. While still on the assembly line, she broke a surveyor’s hand and murdered a man stupid enough to let ashes form his cigar touch her upholstery. After that, she seduced her owner into having eyes only for her, regardless of the fact that she causes the deaths of his child and wife. After his suicide, she sinks her grill into Arnie, who goes from nerd to greaser under her thrall.
Strength attributes: Instant regeneration, stamina, strong body, determination, influence over those around her.
Potential weaknesses: Limited intelligence, overly emotional, requires an object of affection to reach full potential.
The Battle:
For this battle, it will be implied that both KITT and Christine have respective owners. However, said owners will not be present for the battle. This will remain car vs car only.
It’s safe to say that an initial confrontation between these two automobiles will result in a full analysis of Christine by KITT. It would not be known exactly what KITT would find (as there is no known reason why Christine is sentient), however, this will give an advantage to KITT in that he will already be aware of any physical weaknesses within Christine’s body.
This will only be an advantage for a short time, or until Christine suffers enough damage to regenerate. In order to prevent Christine from regenerating at all, KITT will need to be on constant offense, beating her down with any and all physical forms of battle. While tripping her up with oil slick, he would have to resort either lasers or a slam with the turbo boost. If Christine is given even a handful of seconds, however, she will regenerate to full form.
If a massive chase were to occur (and, one would hope it would, considering the contestants), no doubt KITT would be able to out drive Christine in a second’s notice. Even removing his Turbo boost, the speeds attained by a Firebird are much higher than that of a Plymouth Fury, even one powered by a dark force. One can’t disregard Christine’s knack for driving, as she’s more agile than the average driver could ever be behind her wheel. Regardless, KITT would be a force to reckon with on a racetrack.
Though KITT may have technology on his side, Christine has the strength and ingenuity. She can use every piece of her body as a weapon, from the front grill to exhaust to even the seats. It isn’t unexpected that she would simply use her body as a battering ram to beat KITT like a wrecking ball. Any damage she sustained would be gone after a brief rest. Considering the makes of both vehicles, it’s safe to say KITT would take a heavy beating, though more than the average Firebird.
If during the battle, KITT was given access to his personal team, Christine would potentially be overcome by any strategies used to incapacitate her long enough for KITT to escape. However, this would not be permanent, due to Christine’s reconstructive abilities.
In the end, it would all come down to a solid throw-down between these two automobiles. Taking all abilities, strengths, and weaknesses into account, it’s hard to deny the winner in this match.
And the winner is… Christine!
