Sam Raimi revealed that he didn’t have control over which villains to use for Spider-Man 3, which would account for a lot of problems acknowledged in The Cinema Doctor‘s examination of the movie. Last week news circulated that Sam Raimi now has total creative control over Spider-Man 4 & 5, including the selection of what villains will be used. Now the villains have been announced.
It turns out that Raimi wants to do a two-film story arc based on the classic story where Peter’s mutation begins to overcome him, and he begins to mutate into a man-spider. In this story Peter will be crossing paths with The Lizard and Morbius. Basically it’s going to be a big brawl between three wicked mutations. The fight between the tree of them gains the attention of Kraven the Hunter.
I was iffy on the inclusion of Morbius until it was revealed that they would be doing the Spidey mutation story. Not to mention that I’m happy that Dylan Baker will finally get to shine as Doc Conners when he becomes The Lizard. We’ve been waiting to see the Lizard since being introduced to Doc Conners in Spider-Man 2.
As for Kraven. I would’ve lamented that Sam Raimi didn’t learn his lesson from Spidey 3 about loading his film with villains, but since this is meant to be sprawled across two films that’ll mean Raimi has some wiggle room to flesh out all the characters.
So now it all comes down to who’s playing Morbius and Kraven. Who do you think should play them? Drop a comment and let us know who you think.
Kraven should be played by Geoffrey Dean Morgan a.k.a. “The Comedian” from “Watchmen”. As for Morbius I think that the vampire should be played by Andy “Gollum” Serkis from “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy fame.
Kraven would be great, one of my favs from my childhood. I agree that Morgan should play him.
