Terry Goodkind is an amazing fantasy writer. One of his best series is The Sword of Truth series, also known as Legend of the Seeker. This fourteen-novel epic introduced readers to an large fantasy world and a host of amazing characters. It also gave me one of my favorite female literary loves, Kahlan Amnell.
Who is She?
Kahlan Amnell is one the main protagonists in The Sword of Truth series. She is a Confessor, which means she is devoted to seeking the truth. Their powers also can enslave someone to be under their command as one way to get to the truth. Kahlan was Richard Cypher/Rahl’s Confessor and later his wife and co-ruler. Kahlan was played by Bridget Regan in the Legend of the Seeker television series.
Fun Fact:
Kahlan was the first character created for Goodkind’s book series. He based the rest of the novel’s cast and plot on his creation of her.
Why So Crushworthy?
Okay, I will confess I started reading the books because of the television show. I had to find out more about Kahlan — 44 episodes was not enough. So I turned to the books and I loved her even more. Kahlan is everything I love about a heroine. She is strong but kind. She has steel in her spine and a loving heart. Kahlan always knows her duty as a Confessor, and her limitations, but that never stops her from wanting a normal life. She goes through many trials as a Confessor and Richard’s wife but that never makes her lose hope or her strength.
Kahlan is a powerful woman. Sure, she has Confessor magic mojo but just her presence is impressive enough. Kahlan is also a real babe. I’m just saying. She could wear rags and still look gorgeous. I thought Bridget Regan did a great job playing Kahlan. Sure, I read about Kahlan after the show but when I finished the books, I was right in thinking so. I was rooting for Kahlan in both forms of media. I wanted her to have a happy ending. A book character that awesome needed one. But her story is still continuing and I really need to catch up on the books so I can indulge in my Kahlan love.
