Crushworthy Characters: Chloe Sullivan

I’ve been continuing my first watch through of Smallville on Hulu. I’ve either really hated or loved the characters on the show. I’ve found I just can’t feel ambiguous about them. This article features who I think is the best character on the show. I had my moments when I was annoyed with her, but my love stayed consistent. She has the most wits out of anyone on the show. Today, I decided to share why I think she is crushworthy.

Who is She?

Chloe Sullivan, played by Allison Mack, is the best sidekick and friend you can ask for on Smallville. She began her days as a reporter for The Torch at Smallville High School. She moved to the big city and investigated for The Daily Planet. Her best career was being the tech-savvy sidekick to Green Arrow and Clark. Chloe proved her brains and strong will countless times on the show. She has saved the day many times with her abilities.

Fun Fact:

Chloe dies eight times on the show. She reached soap opera levels.

Why So Crushworthy?

Overall, I believe that Chloe is the brains on the entire show. Her strong instinct and technological prowess kept Smallville and Metropolis safe throughout the show. There were moments where her intensity was a bit much, but you can’t deny her passion. Nothing kept Chloe down for long, except the death of Jimmy. Even then, she took her sadness and made a difference with it. I felt that Chloe went underappreciated by the men and women in her life for the greater half of the show. Clark was an idiot and didn’t see that she loved him. She kept his secret and helped him out of scrapes many times. Jimmy loved her but was decidedly not the man for her. Oliver appreciated her towards the final seasons. However, Chloe didn’t need validation from any of the male characters, unlike Lana. She and Lana were like fire and ice on the show. Chloe’s fire is preferable.

Chloe always appeared to live life by her personal set of rules. She didn’t try to be the popular girl or be like anyone else. Chloe definitely danced to her own beat. Chloe’s devotion to her friends is admirable. She never turns her back on a friend. Although she keeps up a cheerful facade, she has her personal demons. I connected with her fears about mental illness. A character I can relate with is one I love. Chloe kept me from pulling out my hair multiple times on the show. Brains are one of the most crushworthy trait a character can have.
