Time to have another crushworthy face off with two leading characters. I’ve recently got into The Vampire Diaries via Netflix. It’s been a real trip so far. There are many interesting characters and scenarios that are happening on the show. And of course, the show is led by two handsome vampire brothers who like to fight more than get along. As I have watched this show, I have realized that the fandom is either Team Damon or Team Stefan. I decided it was time to have them duel on the crushworthy stage.
Who Are They?
Damon and Stefan Salvatore are vampire brothers from the CW television The Vampire Diaries based on the books by L.J. Smith. The brothers are played by Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley. The two brothers made the mistake of falling for the same vampire during the Civil War and have had 152-plus years to deal with it. The two have a love/hate relationship that makes for an interesting dynamic on the show. It’s hard to say which is the good brother and which is the bad one thanks to the show’s many plot twists.
For Stefan
Stefan has had his turns on the dark side. However, he is portrayed as the morally upright brother overall. He still has plenty of humanity left in him. He’s protective of those he loves and cares about. He even goes out on a limb for his black sheep brother many times. Stefan is an old-school gentleman and is quite Byronic. He keeps a diary and enjoys books, a loner who enjoys music and learning new things. Every day is a new discovery for Stefan. Stefan is portrayed as more emotional than his brother. Who doesn’t love a good vampire who feels and cries on onscreen? His introverted broodiness makes the heart flutter. Stefan would probably be the wiser choice for eternal love and devotion.
For Damon
Damon is truer to the natural instincts of being a vampire. He loves human blood and hunting his prey. He has no compunctions in regards to using others and generally painting the town red. Damon is snarky and has little care for others. He would sooner kill you than talk things out. Yet, there is another side to Damon. It takes a lot of searching to see it, but it’s there. Damon’s soft side normally comes out around Elena or things related to her. Damon actually didn’t want to become a vampire, but his brother talked him into it. Since then, he has embraced his dark side with a vengeance. His amoral personality does make his moments of humanity seem much more valuable. Damon goes through many changes during the show which increases his crushworthiness.
Author’s Verdict:
I’m Team Damon for myself. I like Stefan, but I have a soft spot for the rogue characters.
