I have to follow where my inspiration takes me. I watched the original Star Wars trilogy last week and I revisited a lot of good memories. It also made me reflect on the two leading men in the story. Is Han Solo or Luke Skywalker more crushworthy to me? They both have their appeal. I mean, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford were pretty darn good looking in their day. They played their characters admirably. So which one takes the top spot today?
Note: This is based on the the author’s personal opinions.
Who Are They?
Luke Skywalker and Han Solo are the two main heroes in George Lucas’s Star Wars trilogy. They are played by Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford respectively. Luke Skywalker is a young farmer who finds out he’s a Jedi Knight and his hero’s journey begins. Han Solo is a money loving smuggler who taps into his heroism during the story. His snark and swagger make Princess Leia fall for him.
Luke is the ultimate boy scout, even when he is tempted by the Dark Side (they have cookies!). Luke has a strong heart and all the chivalry of an old school knight. He doesn’t hesitate to put himself in danger to save others. Luke takes on the forces of evil with his lightsaber and his courage. Luke reminds me of other classic heroes in literature such as King Arthur. He has the same nobility of character. Luke masters his skills as a Jedi and conquers the darkness that threatens him. You know Luke would make the most faithful of partners.
Han Solo likes money and roaming the galaxy in the Millennium Falcon. His swagger is probably larger than the Galactic Empire. Han Solo jokes and shoots his way through each film. However, he undergoes changes along the way. He becomes less rogue and more hero. Han Solo sort of stole my heart. I liked his attitude of manly charm. He manages to win the heart of Princess Leia. She loves him and he knows it. Han proves himself to be a lot more than he made himself out to be. I have a soft spot for characters like him.
Han Solo. Sorry, Luke, as much as I like you, Han is more crushworthy to me.
