Doris Day dazzles in her screen debut in this Michael Curtiz directed musical comedy. Day plays a night club singer on a Caribbean cruise who gets mixed up in a series of romantic problems. Georgia Garrett (Day) pretends to be Elvira Kent (Janis Paige) in order to take Elvira’s place on an ocean cruise. Also on board is a detective (Jack Carson) whom Elvira’s husband (Don DeFore) hired to see if Elvira is cheating on him. Believing that Georgia is Elvira, the detective can’t help falling in love with her. And then Georgia’s friend Oscar (Oscar Levant) arrives, seemingly confirming Elvira’s husband’s suspicions.
