Sometimes you find a show that is so quirky and binge-worthy you can’t stop watching it. This is the case with Netflix’s The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell. My love for the slightly macabre and eccentric is met in this show. It features the insanely crafty host Christine McConnell. She bakes, sews, and crafts — all the while living with supernatural creatures. There is plenty of dark humor and tasty treats to go around. Here are five reasons you should hop onto Netflix and watch this fun show.

1. All Those Yummy Treats

Our lovely hostess makes so many delicious looking treats. I get hungry watching each episode. I wish I could make some of them. I don’t always have the patience. Christine makes teacups out of chocolate and houses out of cake. I want to dig in after each episode.

2. Those Puppets

Christine’s friends are a few demented puppets. There is Rose the undead Raccoon, Rankle the Egyptian god cat, and Edgar the werewolf. They are definitely unique characters.  Rose cracks me up all the time. She is on the insane side. Rankle has an attitude I can sympathize with on a daily basis. The interactions between Christine and the puppets are hilarious.

3. Christine’s Outfits

I love vintage style clothing. Christine has a surfeit in this show. Her outfits are so amazing. I’m still drooling over the red dress from episode three. It was fantastic. I’ve developed a girl crush on Christine and her closet.

4. The Humor

I have a dark sense of humor. Christine’s show is the right amount. There is just the right amount of morbid without going too far… at least for me. The puppets are the main instigators of shenanigans. Christine’s dry sense of humor adds to the mix.

5. The Storylines

For a baking show, each episode has a plot. It’s not just snack making. They are usually funny and slightly macabre (murderous cousin, anyone?). There is always something interesting happening in each episode.

All the episodes are available on Netflix.
