After having collected several videos over the last few months, I’ve decided to make some changes to the way that I do video lists. Rather than keep separate lists of covers and parodies, I’m going to start mixing those in with other videos. This should let me help promote videos in a more timely manner in the future. I’ll also sometimes include just songs that don’t have videos since I don’t really have any other good way of doing that (actually, I’ve done that in the past, so that isn’t exactly new).
I’ve also decided to try something out over on the Fandomania: Geek Music Facebook page this month. Each day in July I’ll post a different geek (or geek adjacent) music video or song that I haven’t featured here before (although some of them may end up here). So now you have a reason to Like the page if you haven’t already done so!

Ultraklystron – “Nandaba”
“Nandaba” is the second track from the upcoming Nerdcore Absolution Volume 3. It’s based on the anime FLCL, which is probably obvious to anyone who actually knows the show. Good stuff as always from Ultraklystron!
Aramis – “Game Over”
“Game Over” is the first single from the upcoming Aramis album, Virtuoso. It’s all about embracing the new while still keeping touch with the old. Seems like a good idea to me!
Insane Ian – “Believe it or Not – The Greatest American Hero Theme” (cover)
I’m just gonna copy my post from the Fandomania: Geek Music Facebook page: “OK, confession time. I owned this on 45 back when the show was on the air. I played it over and over again (though I totally can’t remember what was on the B-side. Hmmm… Might be worth tracking down on Discogs…). It was, as far as I can remember, the first song that I memorized in full. I still love the song, though when I tried to watch the show a few years ago I just couldn’t get through it. Thanks, Ian, for this awesome cover! You can also download the full version over on Bandcamp.”

Devo Spice – “All in My Tights” (parody of “All of the Lights” by Kanye West)
I actually didn’t even realize this one was a parody until the video was released. Which I guess shows how much attention I pay to popular music. Anyway, it’s another really great one from Devo Spice, this time about superheroes and their costumes.
Power Salad – “Leia” (parody of “Layla” by Derek and the Dominos)
Here’s an appropriate response to the body shaming nonsense that Carrie Fisher received after The Force Awakens: “Leia, you still look good to me!” Agreed!
Sulfur – “Take Shots”
Yup, this video is pretty much what you’d expect: taking shots (drinking) while taking shots (selfies) at the Milestone. But it’s Sulfur, so it’s awesome no matter what!
Smashy Claw – “Deadbeat Decimal”
Finally there’s a video for one of my favorite tracks from Smashy Claw’s debut album, Former Spine. And it’s just one of many from their Patreon project, Claw Machine. And if you like this, you should go support them over there if you’re not already doing so.
Marc with a C – “Where’s My Giant Robot?”
OK, this video made me completely rethink my interpretation of the song. See if it doesn’t do the same for you. Love it!
Koo Koo Kanga Roo ft. MC Lars – “Superstar”
I’m pretty sure that this much happiness could destroy all of the negativity on the Internet if we all played it at the same time. Let’s try it right now!
Claire and the Potatoes – “The Real Enemy (Live)”
What, a new Claire and the Potatoes video? Yup. They reunited for one song at the Geek Easy for the recent benefit for the victims of the Orlando shooting. So if you like this, maybe send some money to the GoFundMe as well. Oh, and the full show is still available to watch on Twitch as well.
Bedford Level Experiment – “TIE After TIE” (cover / parody)
A cover of a parody? Yup, it’s Debs and Errol’s parody of Cyndi Lauper, “TIE After TIE,” covered ably by Bedford Level Experiment. I’m looking forward to hearing more from this band (and you can expect to see more of their videos over on my Facebook page).
Aesop Rock – “Dorks (Live on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert)”
I don’t often get to mention Aesop Rock, but how could I not given the title? Plus it has a perfect party anthem line for introverts: “Party over here… I’ll be over there…” And even though it’s not necessarily geeky, you definitely ought to check out his newest album, The Impossible Kid. It’s awesome!
