Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was the show millions did not know they needed. Its quirky brand of humor and over the top situations are laced with real life wisdom. I wasn’t expecting too much when I first watched the show, but I became addicted. I also developed a huge girly crush on Kimmy. She is not the usual sci-fi or fantasy character featured on here, but this is Fandomania. We welcome all types of fandom.
Who is She?
Kimmy Schmidt, played by Ellie Kemper, is the title character on Netflix and Tina Fey’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Kimmy was trapped in a bunker for 15 years before her life began after getting freed. She starts her new life in New York and makes friends along the way. Kimmy is continually optimistic and is determined that nothing will get her down. Somehow, she changes the world a little each day with her own brand of Kimmy mojo.

Why So Crushworthy?
Kimmy is a breath of fresh air in a world of angsty television and movie characters. She approaches everything with a child-like fascination that many of us lose as adults. Each day is a new adventure for Kimmy. In a fast paced world, Kimmy teaches people to enjoy the little things in life, like Christmas, candy, rabbits, and kitties. I think there is a lot a person can learn from Kimmy. Her boundless passion for things is inspiring. There are probably critics that state Kimmy is way over the top. She might be, but it’s nice to have a fictional character who is mostly happy. Her inner anger issues about her mom and being in a bunker pop out, but that makes her more human. She has her faults like the rest of us.
Let us also state the fact that Kimmy is adorable. I mean, Ellie/Kimmy is freaking cute. I love her red hair and goofy smile. Her quirky mannerisms make her more endearing. However, I think Kimmy’s most crushworthy trait is her strength. As the show says, she is unbreakable. No matter what she goes through, she remains strong. Each mistake or good adventure should be taken as a lesson. Kimmy reminds of a quote by Helen Keller: “Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow.” Kimmy acts like sunshine and tries to shine on everyone. Some may find it annoying, but it’s really a virtue we can all take to heart. Kimmy is truly a crushworthy character.
And remember, in the words of the theme song: Females are strong as hell.
