The past few months have seen my foray into The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. True to form, I love the anti-hero types on the show. Despite the angst and ridiculous teenage drama that appears on the shows, both shows are fun to watch. I do carry a torch for Damon, but I was introduced a character I like more. Maybe it’s the accent or the multiple hidden layers of his personality. He really isn’t a good person, but I can’t help but find him crushworthy.
Who is He?
Niklaus Mikaelson is played by Joseph Morgan on the CW’s The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. He’s first introduced as an antagonist who wants to break the curse that prevents him from being a true hybrid. He terrorizes Mystic Falls for a while before slowly morphing into a anti-hero. He later goes back to New Orleans to take control back of the city. Klaus was born on the 10th century A.D. and has Viking origins.

Klaus is a very talented artist. He draws a picture of Caroline after she attends his ball.
Why So Crushworthy?
Indeed, “Why?” is the question. Klaus starts off as not a good guy at all. He does many terrible things to Elena and her friends in his quest for power. He has no issues with taking out anyone who gets in his way. But like most characters on the show, he has more than one layer. He shows his caring side on more than one occasion. Klaus just has a history of complicated and unhealthy relationships. I mean, his own mother turned him and his whole family into vampires and later tries to kill them all. Klaus had to become vicious in order to survive. His antagonistic attitude starts to ease as he first becomes attached to Caroline and later other characters on both shows. He even proves himself to be a devoted father on The Originals. Klaus is one of those characters that needed to be shown the way. He also has several other attractive points.
As I said, I love a character with a cocky attitude. Klaus has that in abundance along with a high level of snark. Like Damon, he usually has a snappy comeback ready. He also has this swagger that does cause drooling. It’s like he takes over each room he enters and all he has to do is stand there. Klaus is a charmer, as poor Caroline and Camille know. However, I don’t think many people would mind being charmed by him. I also love seeing Klaus display his artistic talents. Vampires have a long time to develop their fine arts skills. Klaus never gets boring as a character and grows in crushworthiness.
