Your discussion of spoilers was spot-on. “Treat others as they would want to be treated [given that they are willing to do the same for you]” is a great mantra to live by. It shouldn’t matter what reason someone has for not caring about spoilers themselves. If I don’t want to know it before experiencing it, that should be respected. Some people try to argue that “it’s not the event itself, but its how they got there, and what happens afterwards”, but I feel like this is just something people tell themselves to make being spoiled sting less. My most recent experience with having advanced knowledge of something due to another medium was with the new Captain America movie. Comic book readers knew the big surprise going in. It was even spoiled in the Marvel movies TV special that aired instead of SHIELD a few weeks before the movie came out. However, I still made sure not to tell anybody about it, and was happy to hear the gasps in the audience when it happened.
