Super Dinosaur #21 picks up in a lab with Derek’s dad and their friends. They are watching Derek’s mom, who is in a stasis tube. The cure they found for her, Manchester’s Isotope, does work, but the team doesn’t have enough. So, Derek and Super Dinosaur (SD) continue hunting through Max Maximus’s bases in search more of the isotope.
Note: This recap may contain spoilers!
Derek and SD are in the desert, closing in on a remote base. They must have been to quite a few bases because SD asks incredulously how many bases Maximus has. The duo have a bit of banter as they make their way through the desert. However, as they approach they run into an issue. The group of Dino-Men that broke out last time have taken over the very base that holds the cure for Derek’s mom.
They break into the base and Derek says he needs to go alone. Not only is he smaller than SD, he is quieter, making sneaking around the Dino-Men easier. SD doesn’t like being left behind and not able to fight, but they don’t need to be seen, they just need to get in and out with no trouble. Which of course doesn’t happen. Derek overhears the Dino-Men leader, Tyrannosaurus X, saying he will destroy the Dynamo Dome. Derek and SD are found out and try to get away, but only succeed in having some Dino-Men follow them back.
Things are getting really intense, what with the Dino-Men revolting and breaking out of prison and SD and Derek bringing a group of them back home. I’m still not quite sure what is wrong with Derek’s mom, as it was probably mentioned in an earlier issue I haven’t read, but it seems quite serious if Derek and SD have to break into secret bases. It’ll be interesting to see what happens next issue.
