“All Out War” continues with issue #119 of The Walking Dead. The 12-part storyline has been big on talk of war, with a modest amount of actual fighting happening. The storyline has been slowly gaining momentum, hopefully leading to Negan’s demise. Issue #119 is a bit tongue-in-cheek, as the characters acknowledge that the zombies would be laughing at them if they could. By fighting each other, the humans are simply making it easier for the undead.
Note: This recap may contain spoilers!
It’s true, and the fighting is resulting in deaths all around — good side and bad. Death is then causing breakdowns, especially in the case of Ezekiel. The leader is questioning his abilities, as so many members of his family have died. Yes, Ezekiel considers the people he led as kin, as he never had a true nuclear household growing up. With the weight of their demise on his shoulders, he feels he cannot lead anymore. Especially with knowing he left Shiva on her own so he could live.
And the speeches begin… again…
Rick discusses the outcome with a small group, admitting that his need to take down Negan is what caused all of the death. There was an understanding between the Hilltop and the Saviors. And, as expected, this speech is cut short. There are gunshots. Explosions. Fire.
Negan has arrived.
Rick agrees to speak with him as long as he hands Holly over. Once she is through the gate, they will talk. Negan gladly produces the bound and hooded Holly. Rick asks Denise to take her in, as the young lady cannot see through the sack on her head. She walks towards her voice, safely inside the gate. Rick is now ready to talk.
However, he is unaware of what state Holly is in.
The ending of this issue was incredible. I am finally very excited for the next issue to arrive (which will be very soon due to my delay in this recap!). Hopefully now with Negan and Rick face to face, again, we will get the war the title has been promising!
