This time in the Fangirl Challenge, I’ll be talking about my Top 9 Villains. These are the people you wouldn’t want to meet or get angry at you.
9. Khan Noonien Singh
This is the proper Khan of Star Trek, not the Benedict Cumberbatch knock off. The original Khan ruled one quarter of Earth during the fictional Eugenics War of the 1990s. He was cunning, ruthless, and willing to do anything to get what he wanted. This is why he is such a memorable villain.
8. Red Skull
Red Skull, from Captain America, is a terrifying villain because he’s even more extreme than the Nazis he worked for. He underwent a supersoldier program, only to have it backfire in his face, literally. When he is resurrected in the modern day, he still holds onto his beliefs and will stop at nothing to achieve his goal.
7. Crocodile
Crocodile from One Piece is one of the more memorable manga villains. Like others on this list, he’s ruthless and doesn’t care who he hurts in the process to get what he wants. He’s arrogant and powerful. So when he finally is defeated by Luffy, it’s all the more fulfilling.
6. Darth Vader
Darth Vader, when you first seem him, is quite startling. A man who looks and sounds like a robot and who kills people for small things. Then add in Sith powers and he’s a force (no pun intended) to be reckoned with. The prequels did him little favor, since he seemed to be weak-willed and annoying. Up until the final scenes in Episode VI, Darth Vader was the best villain in Star Wars.
5. Sauron
The Lord of the Rings‘s Sauron is terrifying, not only because of his size and power, but because of his ability to trick people. He started life out as a Maiar, like Gandalf. Then he turned towards Melkor and evil. For a long time, he retained his good looks, blending among Elves and Men, corrupting them little by little. Once his master was gone, Sauron jumped into over time, making the Rings of Power and starting Middle Earth down a path of war.
4. The One Ring
It might be strange to have an inanimate object as a villain, but the One Ring caused a lot of tragedy and pain for everyone, except Sauron. It seems to have a will of its own and chooses who will wield it. It corrupts people around it very easily. Since it seems to be able to change the bearer in some way, that makes it the most dangerous villain on the list.
3. Reapers
The Reapers from Mass Effect are terrifying villains down to a tee. Large synthetic creatures that come every fifty thousand years to wipe out advanced sentient life, they don’t care about anything except fulfilling their duty, which you learn more about in Mass Effect 3. When first seen in Mass Effect, you aren’t sure what it is, but when the reveal happens, it’s mind blowing. The only thing they seem to be scared of is Commander Shepard, which says a lot about both the Commander and the Reapers.
2. Dark Phoenix
Put out of your mind the travesty that was Dark Phoenix in X-Men 3 and focus on the better comic book/cartoon villain. Jean tries to fight off the darkness growing in her, only for it to overpower her, making her nigh unstoppable. The Universe is terrified of the Phoenix Force and in Jean’s hands it’s either a benevolent force or a destroyer of worlds. The Phoenix Force made a recent comeback in X-Men vs The Avengers, with many people trying to control it with disastrous consequences.
1. Joker
Joker is probably the most iconic villain on the list. It helps that he is in every Batman adaptation, for you can’t have one without the other. He’s also, probably, the most unpredictable and crazy villain on the list. Joker has no goal to work towards or anything of the like. He just likes chaos and hurting people.
