Thanks for reading, folks. I hope you enjoyed last week’s installment. Today’s crush is in my top five of video game crushes. He is suave and witty. He is very good looking. He will absolutely protect you in a zombie attack. Today’s crushworthy character is Leon S. Kennedy from Resident Evil.
The Stats:
Full Name: Leon Scott Kennedy
Age: 35 (As of RE:6)
Job: Government Agent, D.S.O. Agent
Who is He?
Leon is one of the best known heroes of the Resident Evil video games by Capcom. He first appeared as a rookie cop for Raccoon City in Resident Evil 2. It was a bad day to start a new job. He was involved in the zombie situation that devastated Raccoon City. Leon has gone to star in more Resident Evil games and movies since then. You could almost say he’s the poster boy for Resident Evil.
Fun Facts:
- The name Leon means “lion” in Greek. This seems very suitable for him.
- Leon has bad luck with vehicles. I have noticed that in each game he wrecks a form of transportation. They are usually government issued.
- Leon has appeared in six games and two movies.
- The first other canon Resident Evil character he met was Claire Redfield.
- Leon never faced Albert Wesker in combat in the games, unlike his counterparts Chris, Jill, and Claire.
Why So Popular?
I think if Resident Evil had a GQ magazine, Leon would be its cover boy. He is very good looking for a man who deals with bio terrorism everyday. His appearance and really nice leather jackets win him a slew of female fans. His fighting skills and survival instincts win him male fans. Yes, I know many fans are loyal to Chris Redfield. He has those big muscles and could rip a zombie apart with his bare hands. Leon doesn’t need huge muscles to kill deranged genetic mutations or undead. Despite his pretty looks, he is very smart and deadly. He is able to survive in the worst and sometimes most ridiculous situations. Leon is able to do it all with a sense of humor as well. His snarky one-liners make you laugh as you pound the controllers trying to kill a high level boss. You can also count on him during zombie apocalypse. He will protect you and make sure you get out alive. If you can’t trust someone during a zombie infestation, when can you trust them?
Why Do I Love Him?
It was Resident Evil 4 that did it. For some odd reason he reminded of Sawyer on Lost. My crush on Sawyer reached epic proportions during those days. It was to the extent that my mother embarrassed me by talking about my crush in front of Josh Holloway’s parents at a wedding. Leon just fit in, maybe because he looked a little like him. He also didn’t have parents to be embarrassed in front of. I liked how funny and debonair he was. I have played and replayed RE4 many times. I went back and bought the N64 versions of the older games because of Leon. I had to play RE2 because Leon was in it. I have nothing against Chris but he just wasn’t a fun character to play the past few games. It was painful getting through his scenarios in RE6. Leon makes a bad situation better. I do admit to staring dreamily at him in the games. I mean, for a video game character, the man is gorgeous. I also love snarky characters, as long as they don’t overdo it. Leon has just the right amount of smart aleck to get me through the games.
