After the adventuring and mayhem and psychic apes and psychic humans of the last few issues, it’s time to get back to some good old fashioned apes acting like savages while thinking they are totally enlightened and advanced.
Note: This recap may contain spoilers!
Issues are brewing in the refugee camps set up outside ape city. The Chimps are starting to feel taken advantage of (seeing as how they are being forced into labor), there’s a curfew that only applies to chimps, and it’s all being run by the orangutans and enforced by the Gorillas.
Cornelius is unwittingly becoming the focus point for the chimps to rally against their Orangutan and Gorilla brethren. The story he told about the town he visited (the one in which there were mutated mind-bending chimps whose ancestors had massacred all the non-chimps ages ago, although he didn’t talk about the mutated chimps part) is getting around. Zaius doesn’t like it. In fact, he’s planning a major military crackdown. Siena convinces him to hold off while she first tries something. But Zaius is on the warpath so he’ll probably make some huge blunder within the next few episodes while thinking he’s being a wise leader (as he is wont to do).
Meanwhile, there’s a new player in town. His name is “the Auger,” and he’s preaching a new religion based on the teachings of Aleron, which is basically that all apes should get along. But he is also teaching that humans and apes should get along. To prove it, he ends his sermon with a talking human! So now things are even more complicated.
