Fandomestic: 10 Old-Skool Video Game Scarves

I know, I know. I just did a scarf post three weeks ago. But it’s pretty incredible how many geeky knitters there are out there… so many, in fact, that I found enough scarves for an exclusively-classic-video-game-themed post.

1. Super Mario Bros. 3 Scarf

One side of this scarf by LiveJournal user hellebelle features the characters from SMB3 alive; the other side, dead. Morbid, but clever!

2. Chain Chomp Scarf

Beanie from dorkcraft knitted this Chain Chomp scarf (à la SMB3) while watching football. She even provides a pattern so you can make your own!

3. Pong Scarf

Talk about classic! Pong was the first major video game hit, and the simple interface translates well to this scarf by Bits2Die4.

4. Super Mario Bros. 1-1 Scarf

Yup, this is really what it looks like: a knitted scarf version of the first level of Super Mario Bros. In December 2008, it was even featured in Nintendo Power magazine! You can follow the progress of its creator, Cassie, on The Mario Scarf Blog.

5. Final Fantasy Scarf

Craftster member atomikpop made this classic Final Fantasy scarf, knitted and backed with fleece. It’s complete with Black, White, and Red Mages and Fighter. Charts at the link!

6. Super Mario Bros. Villains Scarf

Craftster user peeloutyourface decided to focus on the baddies on her Mario scarf. From the Koopa Troopa to Bullet Bill to the Piranha Plant, all the classics are there.

7. Super Mario World Yoshi Key Scarf

If you played Super Mario World, you probably remember using Yoshi to swallow the key, walk over to the keyhole, and spit it up to open the lock. Luckily, this scarf by teriyakimoto at Craftster requires no spitting up at all. Rather, the end of the scarf with the key slips right through the keyhole, keeping the scarf warm around the wearer’s neck. Genius!

8. Space Invaders Scarf

Space Invaders is one of the most timeless and recognizable video games around, so it’s no surprise to find a scarf featuring the aliens from the game. This one by WildCat Designs is available for sale at her Etsy store, so snuggle up!

9. Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out Scarf

I’m not sure I’d want to walk around with Mike Tyson’s toothy grin hanging from my neck. Little Mac’s not so bad though, and the scarf itself, by Etsy seller Beatboxtaun, is pretty rad.

10. Pac-Man Scarf

And of course, no classic video game post would be complete without Pac-Man. This scarf by UrbanPrincess at Etsy includes the title character, Blinky, Pinky, Inky & Clyde, plus some power pellets to help Pac-Man get through his day.
