So, it’s 2012 and The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra is coming soon. Perhaps you want to catch up on Avatar: The Last Airbender episodes, or even watch them for the first time. This list is here to help!
6. The Blind Bandit
This episode introduces Toph, Aang’s Earthbending teacher and friend. She is a great character and adds something new to the group.
5. The Southern Air Temple
This is probably one of the saddest episodes. It shows Aang’s old home and what happened to it while he was asleep. This is also the first episode where Aang must come to terms with being the last of the Airbenders.
4. The Puppetmaster
A creepier episode than others. It involves an old Waterbender meeting the gang and teaching Katara new techniques, including Bloodbending. Katara, being an awesome Waterbender, quickly picks up on Bloodbending, but hardly ever uses it.
3. The Siege of the North Part 1 and 2
The final episodes of season one. It hints at some of the darker and sadder themes to come and has one of the best battle sequences with the Ocean Spirit and Aang joining forces.
2. The Firebending Masters
This episode is great because it shows how alike Aang and Zuko are. They both need to realize that Firebending isn’t something to be scared of, but something that can bring life. Plus, it has a dragon dance.
1. Sozin’s Comet Part 1-4
The final episodes of the series. Everything comes together in these last four episodes and Aang learns a new bending, Energybending, and becomes the Avatar that the world needs.
Wow! As I look at this list, it reminds of how awesome nearly all of the episodes are starting from the end of Season 1 through the finale.
I would switch out:
The Puppetmaster with Sokka’s Master (gotta give the non-bender some love)
The Firebending Masters with The Ember Island Players (such great comedy)
And I guess I’d have to add in Nightmares & Daydreams. That episode had me sick from laughing so much.
Great series! Here’s to hoping that the Legend of Korra is just as good.
You’re right! It was very hard to narrow the list down to these six (and I loved so many of the episodes!), but I went with ones that I liked the most and showed growth of characters.
The Ember Island Players was very funny. It would definitely be number 7!
