5 Alternate Settings for The Magnificent Seven

I recently saw the movie The Magnificent Seven. I love that movie, I love the TV show, and I love The Seven Samurai that the Western is based on. Then I had an idea: while the TV version of The Magnificent Seven did okay, maybe it would do better set during different time periods! So here are the settings I think The Magnificent Seven could be in.

5. Future (Like Firefly)

I think this would work since it could be a throwback to the Wild West elements that the originals were based on. It would be interesting to see how someone could make the plot work in space.

4. Fantasy (Like World of Warcraft or Hercules and Xena)

An almost perfect setting for The Magnificent Seven. They could be a party of adventurers, complete with a thief, priest, paladin, and more. Anything could happen in this world, since there aren’t many rules to follow.

3. Musketeers in France (Like The Three Musketeers)

This could be a great setting for The Magnificent Seven, filled with intrigue, lots of twists, and great costumes.

2. World War II (Like Band of Brothers)

I think this might be better as a miniseries rather than a full season show. Although other WWII mini series have been done, so perhaps it would be nice to see something new from the genre.

1. Modern Day: ATF/FBI/etc. (Like NCIS, Criminal Minds, etc.)

There are a lot of shows like this out, but I don’t think that people are tired of them yet. This seems like best way to get The Magnificent Seven back on the air.

From a young age, Nikki would read any book placed in front of her and has always had an interest in writing. She saw Sailor Moon, Red Dwarf, and Highlander (to name a few shows) on TV and they got her more interested in anime and sci-fi, which led to fantasy, her favorite genre. Right now Nikki is devouring anything Middle Earth related and has very much fallen in love with Tolkien's world. Nikki plays a lot of video games ranging from Final Fantasy to Mass Effect to Assassin's Creed III. Nikki has also written her first book! You can find it here if you're interested.
