Who is He?
Harry Dresden is the main hero in Jim Butcher’s The Dresden Files. He also stars in comic books and a short Syfy series loosely based on the books. Harry Dresden, along with magicking, helps the Chicago police’s Special Investigations unit solve strange crimes. Harry doesn’t hide that he is a wizard. He advertises his services in the newspaper as a wizard. He is the only listing.

- Harry has a giant temple dog named Mouse as a pet.
- Since his magic disrupts electric currents, Harry lives in a basement apartment lit by candles and firelight. He also doesn’t have an electric fridge or hot water.
- Harry drives a VW beetle that he named the Blue Beetle. Modern cars break down on him.
- Harry buys sultry romances and dirty magazines for his magical guide, Bob the skull.
- Harry is known as the Za-Lord (Pizza Lord) to the pixie army that helps him out. He regularly seals deals with Toot-toot the fairy by giving him pizza.

Harry Dresden is just a good guy. He is the gentleman you don’t find around much anymore. Just look at the way he treats the ladies in his life. Well, the ones that don’t try to kill him. There is nothing glamorous about Harry Dresden except his magic. In one book, he defeated his enemies wearing sweatpants. He is the average Joe who has powers. That is what makes him a character you can relate to. Harry Dresden is everyone’s hero. There is nothing he wouldn’t do for his friends. Harry also has a sense of humor, usually popular with the ladies. Many fans wish for a return of Harry Dresden to the small or big screen after the television show was canceled. I would like to see a good version of Harry brought to life.
Why Do I Love Him?
My fangirl crush on Harry began with his sense of humor. Even when vampires and rogue wizards are trying to beat him down he makes a joke. Some people may find it irritating but, like Magnus Bane, I love a character that can give me a one liner to remember. Harry Dresden also has that tall, dark, and handsome thing going on. He cuts a dashing figure in his long, caped duster coats. His good looks aside, Harry is just a good guy. He will do the right thing no matter what. I think Harry Dresden would make a great boyfriend for any gal… when he is not avoiding attempts on his life or crazy fae women coming to claim him.
