With the news of a new Star Wars movie sometime soon, people have begun to look back at the original trilogy. Dark Horse has released a comic based on the rough draft of the original Star Wars, which has some major differences than the released movies.

The first being Annikin (usually Anakin) is a young Jedi with a younger brother and a father named Kane Starkiller. Luke Skywalker is an old General on Aquilae with Leia being the princess there and not Alderaan. Alderaan is controlled by the Empire and Emperor, who doesn’t look like a wrinkled old man in a hoodie. Darth Vader is still terrifying even without the mask. He does seem to have red eyes and a scar on his face and he retains the black outfit.
Kane and Luke are old friends. Kane asks Luke to take Annikin as his padawan since Kane is too old and tired. Princess Leia is off to college or some kind of school, and she has younger siblings Biggs and Windy. There’s even a smuggler/captain type, who we see only briefly and perhaps a Jabba the Hutt prototype.
The issue ends on a cliffhanger, definitely leaving me wanting more. Even though almost everything is different, it has the same feel as the original movies. I love the original trilogy and I can’t wait to see what happens with these new movies. In the meantime, this is a great substitute and perhaps a glimpse of what movies seven through nine will be like.
