It’s new video time! Zombies, astronauts, demo versions, and even ham and cheese sandwiches (well, not quite…) figure into this list. Plus we get to end with one of my generation’s childhood heroes. So let’s get to the videos!

Sci-Fried – “Zombie Prison Blues”

Sci-Fried bring us another zombie song, this one a punk-style parody of Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues.” Even I could guess that this would be about The Walking Dead from the title. But of course it’s Sci-Fried so it’s enjoyable even if you’re not a fan of the show.

Anamanaguchi – “Meow”

Flashy graphics, fun images, great 8-bit music played on real instruments. What more is there to say about this video and song? Go watch it now!

Wordburglar – “Croque Monsieur”

The day this one came out, I was in class with my students with very little to do. So I made them watch it on my projector. I’m not sure that they knew what to make of it, but I love it! I had this song running through my head constantly while I was in Paris recently since even the Starbucks we popped into (and didn’t stay in because, well, that seemed kind of like sacrilege) offered croque monsieur. Anyway, the video features ‘Burg as various ’70s / ’80s characters straight out of virtually every movie or TV show from that time. I’m quite certain I’m missing a lot of references, but it’s great fun to watch and try!

Thomas Dolby (with Buzz Aldrin) – “She Blinded Me With Science”

When I first heard that this had happened, via Buzz Aldrin’s Twitter, I knew I was going to have to include it on a list like this. It’s pretty much as awesome as you’d hope. OK, sure, Buzz doesn’t quite get the beat correct, but who the heck cares! It’s Buzz freakin’ Aldrin singing (well, more like shouting) along with Thomas Dolby. How can that be a bad thing?

The Mythical Show – Star Trek: The Middle School Musical

It’s exactly what it says on the tin. And it’s wonderful!

Marc With a C – “The Real Story” (2003 Demo)

Marc With a C has been putting out a few old demo versions and unreleased tracks lately. This is a demo version of a track from Bubblegum Romance. It’s a lot weirder than the released version, but interesting to hear. If you watch the video, Marc tells the whole story of the demos. I for one would love to check them out.

Milo – “Sweet Chin Music (Fisher King’s Anthem)”

Milo is quite probably the only rapper that can so easily mix professional wrestling, video games, and philosophy so seamlessly into one song. Great stuff!

The Dedicated Servers – “Just Perfect”

Despite all the seeming imperfections in life, it’s all “just perfect.” Even I, an atheist, have to agree with that sentiment. Most of the time I’m an optimist, so I totally identify with this song.

Melodysheep – “Blue & Beautiful”

I told you we’d have astronauts in this list. This video has Neil Armstrong describing his experiences on the moon, autotuned as only Melodysheep can. Great stuff as always!

Melodysheep – “Sing Together”

And speaking of Melodysheep, here’s another video about Mr. Rogers. “After you’ve heard someone play beautiful music, sometimes you just like to have a quiet time to remember it. Let’s just sit and think about what we’ve heard.” Yes, let’s.

anamanaguchi, buzz aldrin, Dedicated Servers, marc with a c, melodysheep, Milo, mr. rogers, neil armstrong, Sci-Fried, star trek, the mythical show, thomas dolby, wordburglar
