Mists of Pandaria Beta Impressions, Part 2

Nikki Day
Off

This time on my adventures in the beta, I thought I would show some more screenshots and give a little information about some quests. There are spoilers, so if you want to be surprised, don’t read!

First, when I started my Pandaren Hunter, he had a generic turtle pet. Now he has this little fellow! I think it’s still a brand of turtle, but I love how it looks.

There’s a quest where you have to find a missing Pandaren and help him find his cart. You find it upside down and as Lewis of the Yogscast said, “It will stay upside for the next ten years!” Which is probably true.

Then you go to the lovely Wu-Song Village. The Hozen, the new monkey type enemies, are invading it. Wu-Song even has its own bar!

The next series of quests have you gather up four elementals to help heal the area you are in. First, the fire elemental. There is a small minigame where you have to dodge fire blasts. They are easy to avoid and don’t hurt much, but it’s almost teaching you mechanics you’ll need for dungeoning and raiding.

Then you must fight a boss to prove your worth. You should be level five or six, and the boss has a skull. So, it’s hard, but not undoable.

Finally you meet Huo, the Fire Spirit. The quest text even has a joke about becoming Huo’s friend.

Later you find and become friends with the Water Spirit and the Earth Spirit.

So far my favorite quest is when you are looking for the Water spirit and run through cursed pools, à la Ranma 1/2.

And I shall leave you with a close up of my Pandaren Hunter.

Next time I’ll finish out the zone and pick either Alliance or Horde.

About the Author
From a young age, Nikki would read any book placed in front of her and has always had an interest in writing. She saw Sailor Moon, Red Dwarf, and Highlander (to name a few shows) on TV and they got her more interested in anime and sci-fi, which led to fantasy, her favorite genre. Right now Nikki is devouring anything Middle Earth related and has very much fallen in love with Tolkien's world. Nikki plays a lot of video games ranging from Final Fantasy to Mass Effect to Assassin's Creed III. Nikki has also written her first book! You can find it here if you're interested. She is currently planning another novel.
