Mists of Pandaria Beta Impressions, Part 1

I got into the MoP beta a few weeks ago, and waited until I had quite a stockpile of pictures for posting. I’m working my way through the Pandaren starting zone as a hunter, since I want to be surprised for anything with Monks. I’m also doing the Horde side of the 85-90 zones, since I play Alliance mostly and don’t want to be spoiled too much. Even though my main is a Hunter, I’m playing through the Horde side as a Priest, just for variety. I’ll also be doing posts on the Pet Battles whenever those get into the beta. For now, enjoy this look at the Panderen starting zone (1-12).

Expect to see lots of Monks in the starting zone and a lot of people in general. They even formed a line for one quest since there were so many people.

Quests work a little differently as well. From what I’ve seen so far, you don’t get three to four reward options for completing a quest. You get what is suited for your class. So a Hunter would get a bow/gun, while a Warrior would get a sword/shield. The same goes for Armor. Priests would get cloth, while Shamans would get leather/mail. It makes it a lot easier, unless you are looking for the item that sells for the most gold. (We’ve all done it).

Of course there is a new faction to gain reputation for: Pandaren Adventerer’s Guild. Panadren’s get a head start on them, while I’m sure Blizzard will put in tabards for all the other races to use.

Running around the beta you might see the blue and white boxes, pictured below. They are usually something that doesn’t have an image in game. The most famous one was from the Cataclysm beta, where Darius Crowley had a box on his head. They are always fun to find.

With that I shall leave you with some random screenshots I took. Next time, I’ll be talking about some quests and new NPCs.

About the Author
From a young age, Nikki would read any book placed in front of her and has always had an interest in writing. She saw Sailor Moon, Red Dwarf, and Highlander (to name a few shows) on TV and they got her more interested in anime and sci-fi, which led to fantasy, her favorite genre. Right now Nikki is devouring anything Middle Earth related and has very much fallen in love with Tolkien's world. Nikki plays a lot of video games ranging from Final Fantasy to Mass Effect to Assassin's Creed III. Nikki has also written her first book! You can find it here if you're interested. She is currently planning another novel.
