Some good stuff has come out or been discovered in the past two months. Most of it I didn’t get around to actually experiencing until November. I’m usually behind in keeping up with new stuff. There have been some amazing shows and interesting bits of fandom that have cropped up. I think these past two months have been an exciting time for fans of all types. Although I haven’t experienced everything that has come out, these are my Octonovember recommendations for things I have.
Television
Jessica Jones (Netflix)
The newest Marvel installment from the streaming giant proved to be just as exciting as expected. Krysten Ritter proved herself as the gritty former hero turned P.I. and David Tennant chilled audiences as the amoral and hideous Kilgrave. I’m looking forward to seeing Jessica hopefully in Luke Cage and the Defenders.
The Last Kingdom (BBC America)
If battles betweens Saxons and Danes are your thing, then check out this mini-series. Based on Bernard Cornwall’s novels, it follows Uhtred as he chooses sides and helps King Alfred unite England. The show is great and I hope they follow it up with more from the book series.
Supergirl (CBS)
Kara Danvers and her quest to fill in her cousin’s shoes have been a great adventure so far. The show is a good mix of lightheartedness and action. It’s great to see another female led comic show on the air. I look forward to seeing Supergirl kick more butt in the future.
Game: Assassin’s Creed Syndicate
I finally got my hands on this game and I’ve been loving it. The game clears up a lot of what what disliked in recent games and adds some great new heroes for fans to enjoy. I’ve already developed a crush on Evie and I’m definitely enjoying the missions in Victorian London.
I know most folks are playing Fallout 4, but I haven’t got there yet!
Book: Boundary Magic Series by Melissa F. Olson
If you are looking for a good urban fantasy that isn’t about supernatural romance, this series is it. It follows the story of Allison “Lex” Luthor as she discovers she is a boundary witch and makes a deal with the vampires to protect her niece. Lex is a tough cookie and both books so far are amazing.
